VISA F-1

The F-1 visa for the United States is issued to international students enrolled in official long-term study programs in the U.S. (high school, college, university, master’s programs, etc.) or English language programs (ESL). This visa allows students to pursue full-time studies and work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. After graduation, students are permitted to participate in an internship program for up to 12 months.

However, the F-1 visa also has certain restrictions, including a prohibition on working outside of the school and a limit of no more than 20 hours of work per week within the school. Students must obtain permission before working and ensure compliance with the regulations of the U.S. Immigration Service.

F-1 visa holders can remain in the U.S. for 60 days after completing their course, unless they are granted permission to stay or work through the OPT (Optional Practical Training) program. To study in the U.S. with an F-1 visa, students need an I-20 form—a certificate of eligibility for non-immigrant students, issued by the U.S. university that certifies the student’s acceptance to study at the institution.
